My last blog spoke about the the most important relationship in your life
being the present moment, some didn't understand the mode of operation
when I asked the question and did not realise
that if your relationship with the present moment is not healthy
then your relationship with others will also not be healthy.
Making the present moment your friend should always be your primary goal in life.
When the present moment is your friend, you will AUTOMATICALLY be in Alignment and
in the Flow.
If this is true and the results are so beneficial, why don't most
people make the present moment their friend? Why do they fight it
and resist it? The answer lies in the power of our UNCONSCIOUS
GUIDANCE System. The UGS is simply an unconscious
survival system.
The UGS can never be in alignment with the present moment, which is
to say it can never be in alignment with Life, since its very
nature compels it to ignore, resist or at the very least devalue
the present moment. Time is what the UGS lives on. The stronger
the UGS, the more it takes over your life. Almost every thought you
think is concerned with the past or the future. When this happens
your sense of Self depends on the past for your identity and the
future for your happiness. Fear, anxiety, expectations, regrets,
guilt, anger are the dysfunctions of the UGS.
There are three ways which the UGS will resist the present moment;
first, as a means to an end, second, as an obstacle, and third as
an enemy. Let's look at all three and see if this pattern operates
in you.
To the UGS, the present moment can only be useful as a means to an
end. IT convinces you that some future moment is more important
than now, even though the future moment never comes except as
another present moment. In other words, you are never fully here
because you are always busy trying to get elsewhere.
When this happens, the present moment is regarded and treated as an
obstacle to be overcome. This is where impatience, frustration and
stress arise in our lives. Life, which is always "now", is seen as
a problem and since we are convinced we must struggle to have what
we want, that problem or struggle has to be solved before we can be
happy and fulfilled, or really start living - or so we think.
The Catch 22 here is that is for every problem we solve, another one
always pops up. So as long as the present moment is seen as an
obstacle, there will never be an end to our problems.
At worst, the present moment is treated as if it were an enemy. When
you hate what you are doing, complain about your surroundings,
curse the things that have happened or are happening, or when you
get into "should'" and "shouldn't", blaming or accusing, then you
are arguing with "what is". You are essentially making Life the
enemy and Life says, "If you want a fight, then I will show you
what fighting is all about."
The vital question you must ask yourself many times a day until you
'get it', is "What is my relationship with the present moment?"
Then become alert and find the answer. The moment you see the
dysfunction and correct it by accepting the present moment, just as
it is, you are free. After a while it almost becomes comical how
insane we can be when we fight the present moment. The good news
is we always have a choice. With observation and awareness comes
the power of choice - the choice to say "yes" to the present moment
and make it your friend.
Today will bring you a new awareness, a lesson or a manifestation
that you are making progress
Mind is the master power that moulds and makes, and man is mind, and evermore he takes the tool of thought, and, shaping what he wills, brings forth a thousand joys, a thousand ills; he thinks in secret, and it comes to pass; environment is but his looking-glass

What is the most important relationship in your life?
What is the most important relationship in your life? Is it with
your spouse, your partner, your lover, your parents, your friends?
If you answered "yes" to any of these, I would suggest you look
further. The most important relationship in your life is your
relationship with the PRESENT MOMENT. More specifically, whatever
form the present moment takes, that is to say, what is happening or
"what is" right now.
If your relationship with the present moment is dysfunctional, that
dysfunction will be reflected in every relationship and every
situation you encounter. All problems that we experience in life
are simply a dysfunctional relationship with the present moment.
Once you have reached a certain level of awareness (and if you are
reading this, you almost certainly have) you are able to decide
what kind of relationship you want to have with the present moment.
Ask yourself, "Do I want the present moment to be my friend or my
enemy?" The present moment is inseparable from Life so what you are
really deciding is what kind of relationship you want to have with
Life. Once you have decided you want the present moment to be your
friend, it's up to you to make the first move. Become friendly
toward it and welcome it no matter what disguise it may have.
If you do this, you will soon see the results. Life becomes
friendly toward you, people become helpful, and circumstances
cooperate with you. This one decision can change your entire
reality. But you have to make that one decision again and again and
again- until it becomes a new way to live.

Unconscious Guidance System
No matter how much we read or study and practice personal growth we
are not immune to limiting beliefs that come up every so often. Our
limiting beliefs are our conditioned mind or our UNCONSCIOUS
Guidance System moving us in the wrong direction. Remember, anytime
you feel any negative emotion you know you are out of the Flow and
out of Alignment with what you truly desire in your life
People often ask me how I handle this when it happens to me. My
response is the first thing I do is acknowledge that it is
happening. I find that if I try to fight it or deny it, I give it
more power. So I just say to myself, "That's interesting. Why do I
feel this way?" And then I feel it. It is important to allow
yourself to feel the emotion behind it because that is an emotion
you need to deal with in order to release it. If you don't
allow yourself to feel it you will bury it. And if you try to bury
it alive, like a horror movie, it will arise again and haunt you.
It will reoccur and may surface at an inappropriate time
which could cause you to feel angry or even break down into tears or
have some type of emotional outburst because you didn't feel the
emotion originally.
So I take a look at it without judgment. And when I don't fight it,
it dissipates, dissolves and evaporates because I don't give it any
power. I just allow it to be there, acknowledge it and then let it
go.
The next step is I always replace it with a better feeling thought.
So after you acknowledge it, feel it, express it and let it go,
just reach for the alternative to it. Reach for the opposite of it.
This is the same as experiencing what you don't want, in order to
discover what you do want. That belief or emotion is probably one
you don't want. And a great way to deal with it is to simply
reverse the belief that showed up. For example, you have the belief
or emotion that there is not "enough". There is never enough,
money, love, food, freedom, etc. (fill in the blank). The opposite
of that is there is ALWAYS more than enough, if I am willing to
accept it.
So the point here is that when this happens, you acknowledge it,
feel it, don't fight it and then just reach for a better feeling
thought. That thought is usually the opposite or alternative to it.
When you choose that, you have regained control and the new belief
creates a new emotion which attracts a new experience. It is as
simple as that!
We talk a lot about change, but where does the power to change come
from? I can tell you this; it is not from your mind. Your mind
only knows what it has been conditioned to believe. In order to
make permanent and lasting change you must know the source of your
true power.
You must KNOW, not just believe, that you are Source Energy in a
physical body and that the Source Energy part of you remains in the
non-physical or vibrational realm, while the physical part of you is
functioning in the physical dimension. But you cannot separate
yourself EVER from the Source Energy that is you.
It is always pulsing strong within you. The Source Energy that is
pulsing strong within you knows your true value and your true
power. But when you forget WHO YOU ARE, it causes a problem in your
vibration. The Source Energy within you loves you and others around
you and when you don't, you cause discord in your vibrational
energy.
The way it works is, you came forth in this physical body and in the
moment you came forth you gained the perspective of your physical
environment, but you also always have this larger perspective of
Source Energy pulsing through you. And in the moment you were born
those two perspectives began to give you vibrational feedback - the
relationship between the Source Energy and the physical side of
you. It began giving you feedback just like every guidance system in
the world does.
So now you have these two points of vibrations. The unlimited
Source Energy that you are, and who you think you are - your
personality. And in the moment when you feel negative emotion
it means that the Source Energy that you are has a very different
point of view of whatever your object of attention is within you.
This is your indication you are out of alignment.

Why we do what we do.
Sometimes it's easy to get lost in the day-to-day activity of what we do. And that's as true for me as for anyone.
So every now and then I like to step back and remind myself of the reasons behind what I do and I thought you might be interested to hear what I realised the core belief is that sits at the heart of everything I do.
You see there is a value behind things which is much greater than the tasks we do to achieve it. In my case, there is a value that coaching students and talking to people allows me to achieve.
I spoke to my biz partner/trainer and some friends to ask what they thought it was all about. After all, sometimes it's hard to see the wood for the trees and outside eyes can add perspective. I asked, "what is the purpose that drives our activity. It's not youth impact coaching - that's the thing we do. The question is why?"
Now, it's easy to get caught up in fine words and high-sounding principles. But to me, it's important to get to what's really true. It's time to get rid of the aspirational language and know what you believe in in your very core.
So I stripped away the language that didn't resonate with me at that time - living with passion, being the very best etc - I don't think these are at the root of what we do. I think it's perfectly OK to live non-passionately so long as you're happy. Who ever said we had to wake up every day with passion pounding in our heart. Is it even realistic?
And who said we have to be our very best all the time! To me that sounds like hard work. Your very best! wow, that's a tuff act to follow everyday all day huh!
I realised that for me, the value at the heart of it all was a belief.
A belief that we all have the ability to choose the life we want to lead.
That life doesn't have to be defined by particular qualities like excellence, spirituality, passion, success or being the best. It's defined by you. It's your life. But it is a CHOICE.
This isn't some utopian doctrine that we can all easily be happy or even that we deserve to be. We don't! There is no deserve. There's just the results of the choices we make (or don't make.)
I believe we can all choose the life we want to create and we all have it within us to face the challenges along the way. Whether we get it or not depends on how we take responsibility for making it happen. And perhaps there's even a drop of luck involved - who knows!
Well, although my belief is that we all have the ability to choose our future, I see all around me people not making those choices. They grumble, make excuses, blame the government, their ex or their boss. They don't act now, they didn't act then and they probably won't act when. Some people look to themselves as not good enough, others look to their environment as not good enough and others look to bad luck. Some just grow careless about their lives - learned helplessness.
Jean-Jacques Rousseau, the 18th century philosopher said "Man is born free, yet he is everywhere in chains." Although he was referring to political chains, his words are equally relevant now except the chains today are largely made in the mind.
In short, I see people stuck in patterns of behaviour, thoughts and beliefs that leave them feeling disempowered. But notice that word though. They feel disempowered but they're not actually disempowered.
At any time, anyone can makes new choices and new decisions. They can act differently and get different outcomes in their life. And I believe that this the most important realisation anyone can have. You are not a slave of out past, present or future. You always have the key to the perceived chains.
So helping people/students to develop their life skills is my contribution to changing this in some small way by showing them that they have choices and helping them step into them.
For me it is so clear that almost everything we have in our lives is the result of choice. And, yes, sometimes that belief can be uncomfortable and challenging. But it's a far more empowering belief. And in all I do Im ultimately aiming to help and show people/students how to make their choice of the life they want to live.
That belief in our power to choose existed long before me and it'll exist long after me. I merely carry the torch for it in my own way right now.
That's why I do what I do.
If you read all the way to then end then I hope this resonates with you and I suspect that's why you connected with me in some way.
Thanks for being a part of mine and our world!
Today will bring you a new awareness, a lesson or a manifestation
that you are making progress.
